Add Cyanide to TasteKarmen H. Spiljak’s work has been selected for European Literature Night in Hong Kong, hosted by the Goethe-Institut.

Her award-winning short story collection, Add Cyanide to Taste, will be part of this year’s programme, a celebration of contemporary European voices that brings writers and readers together through readings, performances, and conversations across cultures.

Blending culinary sharpness with psychological depth, Add Cyanide to Taste explores the spaces where hunger, life, and mortality intersect. Its darkly witty stories have been praised for their emotional precision and quiet bite, inviting readers to taste the sweetness and bitterness of being human.

Presented as both Belgian and Slovenian author, Spiljak joins a diverse lineup of European writers whose work reflects the rich diversity of European literature.

The event will take place in Hong Kong on February 27th 2026, introducing local audiences to the distinctive flavours of European fiction through readings.
